ALL WILL WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • E-Gift Cards: Know someone with exciting stories to tell? Giving them an E-Gift Card is a great way to recognize and encourage them to share.  (All services or accessories may be paid for with them except for another E-Gift Card.) Or are they already a StoryTeller?  They might appreciate enhancing their Story by utilizing the services of the Story Development Support Team.  Any unredeemed value after 90 days is refunded to you!

The story’s initial draft and revisions for the 30 days following are free of charge.  On the 31st day, the story is published, and its StoryTeller is invoiced for the subscription plan selected. An annual term begins on each subsequent anniversary following publishing, and a yearly subscription fee is assessed if the story remains active. The Basic Subscription fee is $2 monthly ($24 billed annually).  StoryTellers are encouraged to update, at least annually, the story to reflect newly revealed details of the subject or changes to the profile.  Annually the first update is free; a $45 fee is assessed for subsequent interim updates.  Alternatively, for an annual subscription fee of $48, StoryTellers may elect a Fixed-fee Subscription.  The Fixed-fee Subscription fee is capped; your price never increases.  Once subscribed for a story, whether it be the current or any succeeding StoryTeller, the Fixed-fee Subscription rate for the story is $48 per annum.  The Story’s current StoryTeller and all its future StoryTellers benefit from the rate in effect when first subscribed to the Fixed-Fee Plan.  Plus, for Fixed-fee Subscribers: 1) four story/profile updates are free, three more than in the Basic Subscription; 2) fees for designating, modifying, or withdrawing the name of succeeding StoryTellers are waived; and 3) the story’s Gallery of photos and other media is unlimited.  Subscribers may switch plans; when switching to the Fixed-Fee Plan, Basic Plan subscribers receive a pro-rata fee allowance for the unexpired term.  Peek·into·the·Past will relay story communication from and to a Visitor as a service of each subscription; the related email addresses will not be shared unless one is revealed in the body of the message.  If a Visitor or StoryTeller wants to communicate directly with the other, including their address in the body of a message makes that possible.

At its sole discretion, Peek·into·the·Past reserves authority to edit Story content and modify its presentation.  The StoryTeller’s approval of the story’s draft is required; this is accomplished by incorporating all modifications submitted via modify a not-yet-published story into the published story.  After publishing, any proposed modification by the StoryTeller is considered to have StoryTeller’s approval.  Should Peek·into·the·Past choose to edit or omit proposed subsequent modifications, then the StoryTeller approval of the revision is required before a revised Story may be published.  Peek·into·the·Past may hide any story it deems unsuited from further appearing on PeekIntoThePast.com.

Requirements for the story continuing to be visible on PeekIntoThePast.com:

  • No unresolved objection by an authority such as a cemetery association over the memorial/marker site regarding placement of the “QR” Tile if one has been elected.
  • No unresolved objection by someone identified within the story.  Peek·into·the·Past may remove or modify any unresolved objectionable material at its discretion.
  • The StoryTeller has not elected to hide the story.  In making the election to hide the story, the StoryTeller completely disassociates from the story. Subject to copyright protection, a hidden story does not preclude another StoryTeller from publishing the same details.  The StoryTeller may allow Peek·into·the·Past to share details with any succeeding StoryTeller. In turn, Peek·into·the·Past will strive for the creativity credit stipulated in the story to be recognized in any succeeding story of the subject.

Requirements to avoid the story being classified inactive:

  • The StoryTeller is responsive to Visitor inquiries and Peek·into·the·Past.  An ancestor, a descendant, or anyone identified within the story who presents a discrepancy between a story detail and their view, after a 6-month maximum consultation period with the StoryTeller and consent of Peek·into·the·Past, may note the issue as a “non-conforming insight” with payment to Peek·into·the·Past by Visitor of a $15 maintenance fee per each instance.  The insight will be noted as “under review” during the consultation.  If the StoryTeller approves and upon payment to Peek·into·the·Past by Visitor of a $15 maintenance fee, anyone may post an insight within the story; it may later be removed at will by the StoryTeller.  All Visitors are encouraged to bring to the StoryTeller’s attention relevant and exciting details.  That said, the story is the StoryTeller’s perspective of the subject, and Visitors should not expect their input to always be adopted.
  • All required information of both subject and StoryTeller continues to be fulfilled.
  • Upon request, to help ensure the story’s integrity and rectify mischievous acts and vandalism, provide a current photo of the subject’s memorial with the “QR” Tile present, if applicable.
  • Fees are current – i.e., are less than 31 days outstanding.
  • StoryTeller has not requested the story be identified as inactive; if so, the effective date of that request has not been reached.

If the StoryTeller of a story identified inactive had notified Peek·into·the·Past of an individual who is to succeed to their role, upon accepting and otherwise qualifying as a StoryTeller, Peek·into·the·Past will recognize that party as the new active StoryTeller. That designee has 90 days after the story becomes inactive to qualify and accept the role.   If the listing had become inactive without a succeeding StoryTeller designation on file, Peek·into·the·Past may transfer the listing to another party at its sole discretion.

Designating the succeeding StoryTeller:

A StoryTeller may designate who is to have the first opportunity to succeed as StoryTeller.  Having notified Peek·into·the·Past, in the format prescribed and via email of record, that chosen individual’s name and physical address remain on file.   Once the story status becomes inactive, the designated person will be notified and is eligible to re-activate the story and become the succeeding StoryTeller.  Just as the StoryTeller, this succeeding StoryTeller must fulfill all requirements of Peek·into·the·Past to affect the desired transfer.  (Important to note that the name and physical address details provided in the designation must match the exact details provided by the succeeding StoryTeller.  This step is to ensure a transfer is to the intended party.  StoryTeller must keep the name and physical address details current for the designation to be effective.)   Any designation may be withdrawn or modified by the StoryTeller upon notifying the Administrator.  There is a $15 fee to designate, modify or withdraw a designation; however, this fee is waived for Fixed-fee Subscribers.

A StoryTeller may elect to hide a Story which results, among other things, in it being invisible on PeekIntoThePast.com.  In making the election, StoryTeller completely disassociates from the Story.  Subject to copyright protection, a hidden Story does not preclude another StoryTeller from publishing the same details.  There is no fee to hide a story.

The StoryTeller may request the story be identified as inactive.  There is no fee to identify a story as inactive.  The request may be withdrawn or modified by the StoryTeller until its effective date.  A story identified as inactive remains published at Peek·into·the·Past’s sole discretion and available for Visitors to enjoy. A story becomes so identified upon any of these occasions: 1) a StoryTeller is non-responsive to Visitor inquiries or Peek·into·the·Past, 2) any required information of both the subject and StoryTeller is withdrawn, 3) if requested, a current photo of the subject’s memorial with, if applicable, the “QR” Tile present is not provided, 4) account fees are more than 30 days outstanding, or 5) a StoryTeller requests their story be identified inactive, and its effective date has been reached. Once inactive, the StoryTeller role becomes vacated, and the withdrawn StoryTeller surrenders control of that story content and will not incur further fees. The role of StoryTeller of an inactive story becomes eligible for another interested individual to obtain.  Restoring a story from inactive status bears a fee dependent upon the choice of subscription plans – Basic Plan $45 or Fixed-Fee Plan $69. Upon each anniversary following a reactivation, an annual subscription fee associated with the type of subscription selected is assessed.  Suppose a Fixed-fee Subscription is selected and an earlier StoryTeller of that story had also selected a Fixed-fee Subscription. In that case, the Fixed-fee Subscription will be at the same rate set by the earlier StoryTeller.  A Basic Plan subscriber may desire to access the benefits attributed to Fixed-fee Subscriptions. In that case, before the reactivation anniversary date, the StoryTeller may make an early election to be a Fixed-fee Subscriber effective the date of the subscriber’s choosing. The relevant subscription fee is assessed on that date, a pro-rata allowance for the unexpired term is applied, and a revised term year begins.

StoryTellers may activate a feature we whimsically refer to as “ARE” (Augmented Realty Experience), allowing visitors at a memorial site to read, hear, and see the story as they visit.  Anyone using a phone camera or other electronic media capable of scanning “QR” (Quick Response) codes can take advantage of this feature free of charge.  Peek·into·the·Past arranges to produce ceramic tiles displaying each story’s unique “QR” Quick Response code.  The tile is designed to be durable in any weather condition and readable for generations.  The tile may be mounted 1) directly on that subject’s memorial or marker, 2) on a plaque separate from the subject’s memorial or marker, or 3) securely nearby upon a sleek “QR” Code Tile Display built to fend off rot, decay, and insect damage for 50 years.  The “QR” Tile Display is advised, particularly for markers/memorials that have begun degrading.  Commemorative flags can be mounted on the “QR” Code Tile Display; a complimentary US flag is provided.  A temporary option not requiring the immediate purchase of a ceramic tile would use a sticker bearing the unique “QR” code; this option would not survive weather conditions, and the ceramic tile would soon be required. Related one-time fees are detailed in the Menu of Services. Suppose Peek·into·the·Past receives notice from an authority, such as a cemetery association over the marker/memorial site, that the “QR” Code Tile placement does not conform with its policies. In that case, it will be brought to the StoryTeller’s attention for immediate resolution.  If left unresolved, the story will be hidden from view, and the “QR” code will be deactivated.

Visitors who have a strong interest in a once-published story (even one subsequently elected to be hidden from public view) and would consider assuming the StoryTeller role should it become vacant will have their notifications kept on file and in line of priority.  There is no fee for filing the notification with Peek·into·the·Past.

Optional professional story development services in collaboration with the StoryTeller include a) composing (fee-based on the number of words and all supporting details provided by StoryTeller), b) narrating (fee-based on the number of words), c) audio recording, d) video recording, e) editing (fee-based on the number of words) (for Search Engine Optimization – identifying keywords and phrases), and f) genealogical and historical researching (fee structure vary depending on the type of research).

Size of the story’s Gallery: A Basic Plan subscription may choose eight photos or other media types to display in the Gallery.  The Fixed-Fee Plan subscriber’s Gallery is unlimited; content beyond eight will not be displayed should the Story become inactive.

E-Gift Cards: Know someone with stories to tell?  Giving an E-Gift Card is a great way to recognize and encourage sharing them.  All services and accessories offered by PeekIntoThePast.com, excluding E-Gift cards, may be paid for with the E-Gift card. Any unredeemed value after 90 days is refunded to you. With your permission, your recipient may transfer the gift to another.

Let us show our gratitude for introducing and motivating a new StoryTeller! With the $0.00 Subscription gift, “active” status StoryTellers can give, free of charge, 1-Year Basic Plan subscriptions eligible for activation upon publication of additional stories to the collection.  (If you intend to publish an additional story and want this gift for yourself, one will be automatically offered while submitting the story.)
